Connections: OG in 3D Spelling Series

77.25

Structured, Sequential, Multisensory, Teachable Spelling Series for the Classroom.  There are four levels. When all four levels are complete, the student will know all the spelling rules and the seven syllable types.  The students will have the knowledge of how to spell 80% of the words in the English language. Rule breakers (called Jailbird words) are also learned in each lesson. These kinds of words make up 20% of the English language.  How much easier it is to learn the few rules to be able to spell 80% of the language than to guess at 100% of the words because no one ever taught you HOW to spell.

The spelling manuals are designed for a regular classroom, teaching not only patterns but the rules for each pattern.  The lessons follow the structured sequence of the English language. The lessons are  multisensory. Each day they provide a learning experience for visual, auditory, and tactile-kinesthetic learners.

The teacher is given the tools to actually TEACH a student to spell, instead of having the student memorize a list of words or teaching patterns without the reason why.  Spelling words seem simple because it is a syllable that is being taught instead of a word memorized.  The student will learn how to use that spelling rule and that syllable in hundreds of combinations to spell many more words than are found in a typical spelling list.

Schools who have adopted Connections: OG in 3D Spelling Series as their word study, have begun with level one in all grades because the lessons are cumulative.  Older grades may move faster through the lessons.  The next year kindergarten starts at level one and first grade starts at level two.  The next year kindergarten starts at level one, first grade starts at level two, second grade starts at level three.  In four years, a student will have learned all the spelling rules there are and be able to apply them better than if he had just memorized a list each week.

Everyone starts in level one whether elementary, junior high or high school, building until the student had completed all four levels.  The lessons, per teachers' requests, are designed to do one activity on Monday, one on Tuesday, one on Wednesday, one on Thursday with a spelling test on Friday. The students can easily be assessed throughout the week in lieu of a weekly spelling test on paper, however, as daily activities are designed for the teacher to assess mastery.
